AI Overviews and answer engines: what AEO means in practice
AEO is not a magic plugin. It is entity clarity, extractable answers, schema, and monitoring for AI surfaces.

AI Overviews and chat-style answer engines change how some buyers meet a brand. AEO — AI optimization — is LINC’s label for the practical work of improving the chance a business is cited or accurately represented in those surfaces. It is not a guarantee machine and it is not “add AI to your SEO package” as a slogan.
How AI answers pick sources
Systems vary, but patterns repeat: clear entities, authoritative pages, extractable explanations, and consistent brand facts travel farther than vague brochure copy. If your firm is hard to identify — inconsistent names, thin service definitions, no FAQ depth — models have less reliable material to quote.
Entity clarity
Make the organization unmistakable: legal/brand name, services, geographic focus, and distinctive proof. Organization and Service schema help machines; human-readable “about” and service pages help everyone.
FAQ and answer patterns
Write pages that answer real questions in plain language. Lead with the direct answer, then nuance. This helps classical search snippets and improves the odds that answer engines can use your wording without inventing details.
Schema with restraint
FAQ, Organization, and Service markup should reflect visible content. Do not fabricate reviews or ratings. Schema is clarity, not a cheat code.
What we measure
Baselines and notes on brand/SERP/AI presence, priority question coverage, technical eligibility, and qualitative citation/mention observations. We do not promise guaranteed AI citations.
